Female Thor Secret Identity Finally Revealed!

Time Magazine informs us that Marvel is finally ready to reveal the identity of the Asgardian Goddess of Thunder.

For seven issues, Marvel has kept the secret identity of the new, female Thor a secret from readers. Hell, not even the original God of Thunder, Odinson, had any idea of the person deemed worthy enough to yield the mighty hammer.

But now we know. And you can, too.

Before we reveal who it is, just remember, you clicked onto an article that’s essentially a spoiler: so going any further in this article is a legally binding contract and absolves us of any nerd guilt.

All right, disclaimer over.

The new Thor is…..

….

..

.

Dr. Jane Foster.

That’s right. Thor’s ex-girlfriend who specialized in astrophysics. Recently, Dr. Jane Foster had been diagnosed with brest cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

But, as the writer for the latest issue, Jason Aaron, points out, the very act of picking up the Hammer and becoming Thor is actually killing her.

In one bold declaration, the Goddess of Thunder yells out:

“I am Dr. Jane Foster. And I will not stop being the mighty Thor. Even though it is killing me.”

Damn, and you thought the old Thor was strong.

The news may not come as a complete shock to regular readers of the series (Dr. Foster once proved she was mighty enough to yield the hammer once before in the comics), but it does open up a host of interesting plot points going forward for the long running comic series (which has become a Top 10 property since switching to a female Thor):

What happens when Odinson finds out?

What happens when astrophysics friends find out?

And, most importantly, does this mean we get to see Natalie Portman yield Mjolnir in the next Marvel comics motion picture?!!!

That’ll do it for this installment, super heroes.

Until next time, fellow comic book nerds.

Excelsior!
